Use this thread to post Ron Paul media appearances. New threads may be created to discuss particular events, philosophies, or perspectives – however, this thread is meant for recent Paul media appearances and light discussion. Feel free to quote the most important or enlightening parts of the interview, the date, and any relevant information. Ron Paul on Fox Center Seat: > This was a good interview/discussion because it lasted for 35 minutes. They discussed the current polls, polls views on individual liberty, immigration, taxation, and more. Some members of the panel tried several times to “corner” Paul (such as on his views on drugs and personal liberty) – however, he did a great job explaining his points accurately. My favorite segment, at 31:16 “What would your tax be?” Paul: “Zero, zero, zero. I mean, I would like to get rid of the income tax and the corporate tax and shrink the size of the government. We’ve only had an income tax size 1913.” “So wait, wait- zero zero, zero – you mean to tell me… [muffled] yea I know…but what is the real President Paul going to do on taxes?” “I’ll do anything I can to lower them. Anything and everything. Tax is a burden. But, the reason I don’t emphasize that as much, and I’m not on any bills, is spending is the tax. Spending takes the money out of the community, then they tax us, then they borrow it, and then they print it. And it all goes back and destroys the economy, pushes the prices up for the poor, and the poor suffer more than the rich. The characteristic of the destruction of a currency – we’re down, we’re about about 98% devaluation since the Fed came in. When you destroy a currency, and this comes from Austrian economics, there is a transfer of wealth from the middle class to the wealthy. And this is why the Wall Streeters are right, but I’m not sure they – the Occupiers – understand this. But this is always the case. And then they get the control and the power, and they get the bailouts. But what happens to the middle class? They lose their jobs, and they lose their houses.”

Here’s Ron Paul on the CBS News GOP debate. Even though they only gave him 90 seconds airtime on live tv, he schooled them on Iran and later on torture. |

“Ron Paul has Authenticity,” Pat Buchanan on Ron Paul, 01/15/12. “And secondly, I do think people belive we have too many wars, and the empire has got to be downsized. This has tremendous appeal to young people.” What is it that you’re saying that attracts them [the youth]? Ron Paul: “They’re young ideas. Personal liberty is a young idea. As we get older, to get along you have to go along. You have to conform. From an early age, people are taught to conform. Public education, especially, does that. Conformity is more necessary than independently-minded thinking. But I think we’re all naturally independtend-minded thinking.” “Ron Paul is the peace candidate.” |
